Waiata-a-Ringa
Waiata-a-Ringa is a traditional form of action song that allows you to bring a song alive by adding actions that represent the words that you are singing. It is similar to dancing however rather than expressing at will your love for the song that you are singing along to, the actions are specific to the words you are singing. This is usually performed with a group of people and is a great way to build confidence within your peers, to recall histories and you will find that most Māori will perform these as a gift back to someone who has honoured them in anyway or as a gesture of thanks.
